OBITUARY OF LATE ROBERT E. MORRISON
The Miller Press, Miller, Hand, SD. 10 Feb 1944 Pg 1 Vol 63 # 15
Robert Eli Morrison was born June 13, 1865, to James and Nancy(Conser)
Morrison, and passed away at his home January 31, 1944.
He was born in Sandsprings, Delaware county, Iowa, and spent his early
boyhood days there, moving with his parents and family near Coleridge,
Cedar county, Nebr., settling on a homestead where he lived until his
marriage to Martha Louisa Shearer of Clearfield, Ia., December 24, 1889 at
Hartington, Cedar county, Nebr. Two sons were born to this union, Vaughn
of Chicago, Ill., and Gene, who resides on the home farm.
After his marriage they made their home in Coleridge, Nebr., for a number
of years, where he was engaged in business. They moved to this state and
engaged in farming near Wessington Springs, Jerald county, for two years,
after which they came to Hand county, Spring Lake township, living at his
present home until his death. He always took an active part in the
community affairs, serving as a member on the township board for several
years, until ill health forced him to resign. He was a kind neighbor and
a friend to all who knew him.
Besides his widow he leaves to mourn his loss, two sons, Vaughn and Gene,
two brothers, Howard of Coleridge, Nebr., and Renso of Montebello, Calif,
one sister, Hattie (Mrs. Roy) Adams of Laurel, Nebr., eight grandchildren
and one great grand daughter and a host of relatives and friends. Burial
will be in the Rose Hill Cemetery, Bates twp., Wessington, Hand, So. Dak.

Marriage Record in poss of Ruth Fratzke, Miller, SD (1994) # 41-408 pg 162
